Venerupis pullastra

Size:    up to 5cm long
Overview: An oval shaped shell-fish which has markings which can resemble the plumage of a hen. Attractively marked with the exterior sculptured with concentric ridges and faint radiating lines. The inside of the shell is a pearly white colour. Its main habitat is the lower shore down into deep water in sandy and stony situations burrowing down to about 5cm.

Where to See: Due to this being mainly a deeper water shell-fish, you are most likely to come across the empty shell on the coast line.
