Overview:
A
robust plant 10-35cm tall, with broad, glaucous green, basal leaves
and a few sheathing, pointed stem leaves. The leaves are usually heavily
spotted, although some may have very few spots. The flower spike is dense and
square topped, with 10-40 bright purple to magenta coloured flowers, which
are heavily marked with dark lines and dots. The lower petals are longer and
pinkish-purple in colour, the lip being distinctly three-lobed.
Where to See: Can be found in the marshland, mainly behind
the kitchen Shieling
(Map F6-F7) may also be seen
along the path from the Cottage to the shore (map D5, F6)
