GRASS OF PARNASSUS
Parnassia palustris

Height:   up to25cm

Flowers: June-Sept

Overview: Perennial of peaty grassland, marshes and moors. Heart-shaped basal leaves are stalked. White, 5-petalled flowers are 15-30mm across with strong veins on each petal and appear June-September these are produced on stalks with clasping leaves. Named after the sacred mountain of ancient Greece.

Where to See: Again this plant can be found in any of the damper areas, one of the best areas is along the path from the cottage leading down to the shore. (Map C5 & D5)
